Lindsay Reich
Born and raised in Chicago, Lindsay began her dance training at the Fisher Dance Center under the director, Robin Fisher in Wilmette, Illinois. She studied a broad range of dance forms including ballet, Pointe, jazz, modern, lyrical, hip hop. She continued dancing at Emory University, receiving a double major in Dance and Environmental Studies in 2010. During the four years spent in Atlanta, she worked with choreographers, Lauri Stallings of GloATL, T.Lang, George Staib, Lori Teague, and Jennifer Woods. She became interested in choreographing work that integrated her passion of dance with her interest in environmental studies. She created a piece entitled, "The Wolf's Call" a visual representation of keystone species in the food web. She also created a children's workshop inspired by Shel Silverstien's, The Giving Tree, highlighting the importance of trees and its life-like qualities.
Post graduation, Lindsay traveled to Israel to study Ohad Naharin's Gaga Movement Language at the Suzanne Dellal Performing Arts Center in Tel Aviv. While attending Gaga classes regularly, she also worked with choreographers Yasmeen Godder, Eldad Ben Sasson, and Yoam Karmi.
Upon returning to Chicago, Lindsay works as a local dance artist, committed to choreographing, performing, and teaching dance to all people, including children and adults. She studies under the mentorship of Nana Shineflug, artistic director of the Chicago Moving Company. In the summer of 2011, she developed an original adult creative movement improvisation class called, Schmaga Gala. It is inspired by the Gaga technique and Nana Shineflug's The Conscious Body.
Currently, Lindsay is located in Kentfield, California as a student and personal assistant to Anna Halprin, the renowned founder of the post-modern. She completed the Level 1 Tamalpa Training Program in December 2012, a course founded by Daria and Anna Halprin. Tamalpa is an expressive based movement arts therapy that focuses on developing a life/art process. She will continue her studies with Tamalpa through the end of May.
